KEBA cooperates with WIFI - Building robots made easy _2008-11-17
Starting in the fall, robots will be built in the scope of the cooperation between KEBA, the Upper Austrian expert for automation solutions and the WIFI Linz. This unique project has been in planning since April 2008.
This September, four members of the mechatronic advanced training group will start with the construction. The project will be complete in March of next year when both the robots will assume their tasks as testing and training objects. For KEBA in particular, this represents an expansion of its robot competency.
"Our goal is to motivate many mechanical engineers to build robots themselves that are optimised to their application", delights Franz Höller, Executive board member of the KEBA AG
The focus of the project is the complete design and construction of a robot, from the mechanical construction to the electronics and drive technology to the control software. KEBA supports the work both with know-how and free provisioning of all automation components required for the construction.
This consists of control, hand-held device, drive and safety technology. All additional components are made available by the companies ITEM, SCHUNK and WITTENSTEIN alpha.
The cooperation partner WIFI receives an attractive project which is in step with actual practice as well as the expansion of the existing robot laboratory (already in existence for 20 years) by an additional robot type.
