The active contact flange, which has had its debut at the recent Automatica fair, is a combined actuator and sensor element, which is used between a robot and its tool, and thus allows the targeted and measured use of force.
As a consequence, tolerances on the workpiece and the tool can be equalized by means of internal dynamics. The active contact flange is ideal for tasks in the areas of grinding, polishing, laminating, bonding and gluing, especially where high precision is required.
