KEBA raises turnover by a quarter to 122.9 m Euro! Most successful business year in the history of the company _2008-06-13

The automation specialist from Linz on successful internationalization course

KEBA is looking back on the most successful business year in the history of the company: The positive development in both business divisions – industrial as well as banking and service automation – amounted to a profit of nearly a quarter over the previous business year 2006.

"The economic conditions on the international markets positively supported our corporate development: The KEBA group with headquarters in Linz, Austria was able to increase its profits in the group by 24 percent from 99 m Euro to 122.9 m Euro in the business year 2007 (per March 31, 2008). In addition, we had 68 new hires in the previous year and now currently have 785 employees", says CEO of the KEBA AG, Gerhard Luftensteiner during a press conference in Linz. The innovative automation specialist invests approx. 20 percent of its profits into research and development.

Successful in all areas
"The growth in this business year comes from both business divisions equally. The increase in profits was generated by each half equally from the industrial and banking and service automation", said Luftensteiner.

Road to success: Internationalization
With an export ratio of 76 percent, the international market is very decisive for the business success of the automation specialist from Linz. The company's focused internationalization strategy was a significant contributor to the success. In the industrial automation division, the acquisition of well-known engineering customers clearly shows the success of this strategy. "The strong competence with controllers for plastic machines makes KEBA an internationally sought after company. We are continuing to hire additional employees in our offices in China", explained Luftensteiner.

The preeminent position in the robotics market also bears attractive fruit. An important manufacturer of components for machine and plant engineering ceased with its own development efforts and now uses motion controls from KEBA. The world market leadership was also successfully further expanded in the handheld terminal business. More and more OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) place their trust in KEBA hand-held terminals. In Japan as well in the meantime, numerous robot manufacturers are also won over by KEBA terminals. The banking and service automation business division also had an equally successful development in the past business year. "The profit in this branch was able to be increased, in particular through large lottery projects in Spain and Austria", said the CEO. In the area of KePlus banking terminals, KEBA took over the marketing organization of the longstanding commercial representative in Germany.
