Troost GmbH is an innovative service provider based in the greater Mönchengladbach area. As a specialist in disinfecting and maintaining textiles, the company delivers quality-driven and eco-conscious services across the entire textile supply chain. Operating in two shifts, the laundry processes approximately 35 tons of textiles per day. Around 180 employees ensure efficient and environmentally responsible use of resources on a daily basis. In recent years, various modernization initiatives have resulted in significant reductions in energy and chemical consumption.
One of its most prominent clients is German Bundesliga soccer club Borussia Mönchengladbach. As a long-standing partner, Troost manages the complete textile supply for Borussia-Park and, upon request, also for visiting teams.
Efficient laundry management and optimized space utilization
The challenge was to create a centralized system that enables automated dispensing and return of garments using chip cards for approximately 1,300 employees. Fresh laundry is required around the clock. The previous approach - storing garments in locker rooms - needed to be replaced to improve hygiene standards and inventory control.
Troost faced an additional challenge: previously, only hanging garments were processed. For this reason, customers initially required a carousel system using HF technology. However, such systems require significant space. The new solution needed to be more space-efficient and support folded garments. This required switching to UHF technology, which offers greater range and faster data capture - ideal for high-speed applications.
Technological advancement with the texLOG® room solution
The decisive factor in awarding the project was the convincing room solution and its functionality. The texLOG® room solution includes three return units, a modern glass entry turnstile, and a secure exit gate. An information terminal allows employees to view their available garment quota. Additionally, a MIFARE reading station is available. Employee management is handled via KeMas NET software, while the tex NET application manages textile tracking, user assignment, and the control of dispensing and return systems. Integration with the customer’s in-house ERP system was a key requirement.
A special aspect of this project is that Düren Hospital is the first Troost customer to work with UHF-tagged textiles. Acceptance among both the customer and internal staff is very high, and the system has been running smoothly since implementation. Any minor issues encountered were primarily related to individual garment size adjustments rather than hardware or software.
Optimized processes, improved hygiene, and high acceptance
The solution has delivered significant benefits for both Troost GmbH and the hospital. The new texLOG® laundry system enables employees to return used garments quickly and easily and to collect their assigned clothing for the next shift without hassle. Reduced search and walking times are achieved through optimal placement of the system near the staff entrance. The system has been running reliably since launch and is very well received both by the customer and internally.
“We are very satisfied with the collaboration,” says Cathrin Heydemann, Head of Administration and HR. “KEBA’s team provided active support throughout the implementation and beyond.” Managing Director Philipp Wenzelburger adds: “Based on this positive experience, we will gladly implement suitable KEBA solutions for other customers as well.”
