Sparkasse Chemnitz is one of the largest savings banks in Saxony, with total assets of around 5 billion euros and 79 locations. Its business area extends from Chemnitz to parts of the Zwickau district. The Sparkasse Chemnitz group includes six subsidiaries and employs around 800 people.
Modernization and Replacement During Ongoing Operations
Sparkasse Chemnitz has been using KeMas transfer locker systems for many years. The first systems were installed in 1997. In 2011, a module for managing pooled vehicles was added. As part of the redesign of the access control system at the main branch, the bank decided to also renew the transfer lockers at eight locations, each with 60 compartments, through KEBA. Many employees use these systems, for example, to collect and return their office keys.
„We chose KEBA products again because we can integrate them seamlessly into our existing systems.“
“We chose KEBA products again because we can integrate them seamlessly into our existing systems,” says Volker Vester, Security Coordinator at Sparkasse Chemnitz. The access management software “Exos” is provided by Dormakaba. This software centrally updates employee credentials and access rights. With these credentials, employees can enter buildings or specific internal areas and open their key compartments.
The corresponding card reader has been integrated into the device and recognizes valid identification. A 10.1" touch display intuitively guides employees through the menu. Keys are returned via a return reader and the transponder attached to the key. Networking between “Exos” and KEBA’s key depots takes place automatically and without errors. The combination of both solutions also meets the requirements for secure IT operations.
Continuous Measures for Digitalization
Savings banks are currently undergoing a period of digital transformation. For this reason, there is strong confidence that many innovations will emerge in the coming years. These will lead to new technical solutions that improve and optimize collaboration.
“We are very satisfied with the quality of the devices. Acceptance among our employees is high,” Vester adds.
Maximum transparency of all withdrawals and returns, along with complete documentation, ensures that keys or other valuables cannot be lost or forgotten. In addition, when not in use, keys are securely stored in the locker systems in a way that complies with audit requirements.
Sparkasse Chemnitz has relied on electronic, paperless key management for nearly 25 years and looks forward to continued successful cooperation and a wide range of innovative ideas and solutions from KEBA in the future.
