KEBA Handover Automation Germany
Specialist in transfer solutions for various industries and applications.
After 35 years of innovation and ten years as a successful member of the KEBA Group, KEMAS became KEBA Handover Automation Germany GmbH on April 1, 2026. The integration strengthened the company’s market presence, innovative capacity, and international focus.
KEMAS GmbH celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2025 and simultaneously took a significant strategic step: With the renaming to KEBA Handover Automation Germany GmbH, the company’s full integration into the internationally active KEBA Group became visible in its brand identity as well.
Since its founding, the company has stood for intelligent automation solutions and secure handover systems. It has established itself as a leading technology provider for automated handover and locker solutions and set standards in efficiency, security, and digitalization.
KEMAS had already been part of the KEBA Group for ten years. During this time, international market potential was tapped, technological synergies were leveraged, and sustainable growth was achieved. The name change in 2026 was the logical next step in this successful development.
“The integration under the name KEBA Handover Automation Germany GmbH sent a strong signal about our shared future. It combines 35 years of expertise and innovative strength at the Oberlungwitz site with the international strength and technological breadth of the KEBA Group.”
Our promise
Through closer organizational and strategic integration, we are pooling expertise, further harmonizing processes, and accelerating innovation cycles. Going forward, customers and partners will benefit even more from global resources, an expanded portfolio of solutions, and a clear brand structure.
KEBA Handover Automation Germany GmbH remains true to its core mission: developing and implementing intelligent handover solutions for various industries—from retail and logistics to manufacturing and services. The goal is to design automated processes that are secure, efficient, and future-proof.
Founding of the Oberlungwitz Location
In 1991, Hans-Jürgen Grämer founded the company KEMAS. It all began, however, at Grämer’s previous company, Robotron, in what was then Karl-Marx-Stadt (now Chemnitz), with an inefficient process—the manual, paper-based issuance and return of keys.
In the mornings, there were long lines; in the evenings, enormous piles of keys accumulated, which had to be sorted onto the traditional “nail board”—a tedious and error-prone process. “There’s got to be a better way!” he concluded, and the first prototype of an automated key management system was born.
