Reducing energy consumption where it is most effective
Energy efficiency has been a central development focus of the new evo series right from the start. Compared to the previous generation, power consumption was already significantly reduced. This was enabled by a new cash recycling module in which not all components need to be permanently powered. Instead, a proximity sensor detects when customers intend to use the machine and switches it to operating mode within seconds. Users do not notice this at all, while energy consumption is noticeably reduced.
With the new evo generation, KEBA now takes this concept one step further: the sleep mode has been further enhanced. It is designed for periods of very low usage, such as at night or when foyers are closed. In sleep mode, the device reduces its energy consumption even more significantly - from an original 20 watts down to just 5 watts. Individual machines can be deliberately put into “sleep mode,” while others remain available for transactions.
Sleep mode can be activated on a schedule or remotely. In the morning, the machines are fully powered up again and are available as usual. For banks operating multiple cash recycling machines at a single location, this function unlocks additional savings potential while maintaining maximum availability.
Higher performance everyday
The evo series remains true to its core principle and continues to enable the recycling of up to eight denominations using just five physical cassettes. This dual-recycling technology already established KEBA as a pioneer in the European market back in 2018.
With the new evo generation, performance has been further optimized: banknote processing now reaches speeds of up to twelve banknotes per second. At the same time, the increased cassette capacity reduces the need for interventions by cash-in-transit service providers. This, in turn, minimizes downtime and increases availability in self-service areas.
Another enhancement concerns the PC power supply. It is now provided via a central main power supply unit, enabling higher peak loads without unnecessarily stressing individual components. In daily operation, this results in fewer failures and less frequent replacement of the power supply unit — ultimately reducing resource consumption over the entire product lifecycle.
Extensive security features as standard
Security is an integral part of the evo series. Even in the base configuration, the systems include security features that are often optional with other manufacturers. Our goal was to deliver a system that is secure by design - regardless of additional options.
The solid mechanical construction made of robust metal and glass significantly hinders tampering attempts. The safe interfaces of the new evo have been designed to offer fewer potential points of attack. Additional cable access covers are now integrated as standard, further increasing protection.
Mechanical security is complemented by well-engineered electronic measures: end-to-end encryption, multiple locking points on the device hood, wider security mirrors, and an enhanced overall security concept help to further deter potential attacks such as explosive assaults. Depending on requirements, additional features can be integrated or retrofitted - including camera solutions for fraud prevention (“hand-to-cash camera”) and improved visibility in self-service areas (“digital rear-view mirror”).
The current evo is not a radical reinvention, but delivers targeted improvements exactly where they make a tangible difference in everyday operation.

The security architecture of the evo series also directly supports the topic of sustainability. The robust design ensures a long service life, while high-quality materials reduce wear and the need for replacements. Even with the first evo generation, around 98 percent of the materials used were recyclable. This approach is being consistently continued with the new generation.
